Why we show up

We wanted to share a story — the kind that happens more often than you’d think, but too often goes untold.

Recently, two of our team members delivered a manual tilt-in-space wheelchair to a patient at a local care facility. Before they even entered the room, the therapist quietly warned them: "She probably won’t get out of bed. She’s been very withdrawn and depressed."

But something shifted that day.  The patient allowed herself to be placed in the new chair, and as she settled in, something beautiful happened:

She smiled.
Then she laughed.
She said it was “so comfortable.”

Later, the therapist told our team that she had seen a tear in the patient’s eye — not from sadness, but from relief and joy. For the first time in a long time, the patient planned to go outside with her family that evening.

It wasn’t just about the chair. It was about dignity, comfort, and hope.

Certain kinds of equipment often doesn’t generate revenue for companies like ours. Reimbursement is challenging. Paperwork is slow. The system isn’t always built to reward compassion.

But we do it anyway. Because people like this patient matter. Because comfort matters. Because being able to sit with your family in the fresh air — that matters.

At Renmar, we believe in doing the right thing, even when it’s hard. Even when sometimes it’s not profitable. Because stories like this are why we show up — not just to deliver equipment, but to deliver care that makes a difference.

Thank you for being part of the reason we get to do this work.
